Hello guys, In this blog I am going to tell you about the Union Territories of India and some famous places to visit there. So let’s see what a Union Territory actually means and talk about some places that you must visit once in your life!

India the “Land of Diversity and Amazingness” is the 7th largest country in the world in terms of its area and surrounded by the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and by the Indian Ocean on the south.

Along with this India shares its land boundaries with 6 countries, Pakistan to the west, China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north, and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east.

To the south, in the Indian Ocean India is in the proximity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives whereas in the sea one of its union territories “Andaman and Nicobar” Island shares its naval boundaries with Thailand and Indonesia.

Until now there were only 7 union territories in India, which has now become 8 and their names are “Jammu and Kashmir“, “Ladakh“, “Delhi“, “Dadra & Nagar Haveli And Daman & Diu“, “Chandigarh“, “Andaman and Nicobar“, “Pondicherry“, “Lakshadweep“.

What do you mean by Union Territories of India?

Union Territories are the Federal Territories or a type of administrative division of India that are directly governed by the Central Government of India.

Union Territories are administered by the Lieutenant Governor, the representative of the President of India. These administrators are directly appointed by the President on the suggestion of the Prime Minister of India.

Except for Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Puducherry, the other Union Territories have no representation in the Rajya Sabha. But for effective governance, these Union Territories are further sub-divided into small administrative blocks.
